NO
PLACE LIKE HOME
It
has been a great year for us with the US Women's National
Team, but I will say, "there's no place like home!"
I am happy to be back. Doing the "normal"
everyday stuff has been a nice change of pace. Don't
worry, I am still doing things to prepare for the game
versus Mexico, but I truly am enjoying being a soccer-mom,
wife, dog walker, Mrs. "fix-it", Santa Clara
Bronco supporter (Yeah, first game win versus Cal-Berkeley!!!!!!)
and Bay Area resident. Tomorrow I get to go with Cam
to his North-South California challenge...I can hardly
wait to enjoy watching his team play. I am going to
bring a few of my books along with me, and if I see
any parents having a rough time on the sidelines, I
am going to hand them a book. = ) hahahahaha

Back
to soccer.....
Being on the road with the national team is so much
fun, and we have truly enjoyed ourselves on this Fan
Celebration Tour. Our last two matches versus Denmark
were incredible. Very demanding and exhausting because
of how long the year has been for all of our players,
not to mention the technical and tactical ability of
the Danes. They are a very good team, who are doing
very well in the European games. In the last three games
with them, we are 0-2-1. They tested us in the Algarve
Cup in Portugal with a tie, and the first game on the
tour, we got a beautiful "roofed" goal from
Mia in the waning moments of the game to leave the crowd
with a lot to cheer about, ending with a game that lacked
a lot of things from our team (I will also take responsibility
for the second goal, a technical mistake on the pass
back to Bri. It happens, but I promise to make reparations!)
Our last game on the Tour is scheduled for December
8th, at what I would call our "HOME" field
at the Home Depot Center. I know I have been pumping
the game amongst all the soccer people I have been in
touch with, and I will say the same thing to you. This
is an historic moment in soccer. The VERY LAST time
you will see Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy and Joy Fawcett wear
a National Team jersey. You don't want to be left saying,
"I was going to make it but..." We understand
that the game being on a weekday is difficult, but this
truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Take care everyone, and I will SEE YOU AT THE STADIUM
(ah, there's no place like Home...Depot Center that
is.)
