GOING
TO KANSAS CITY
Tomorrow
we face Mexico in Kansas City. This used to be a matchup
that was interesting, but never posed that much of a
fight. Those days are over. Mexico has become a team
that goes to the World Cup and Olympic Games. They aren't
interested in just showing up and having their names
on the same stat sheet.
Their
federation has finally come out of a slumber to realize
that with a little time, money and coaching, they could
have a team for the future. Though this game doesn't
determine a championship, it is another step forward
in the eyes of a culture where women didn't participate
on the football pitch. I am happy and more importantly
honored to be playing in what I think is another historic
moment in women's sports.
Looking
forward to seeing you at Arrowhead Stadium, and then
at my first book signing, at the Unity Temple on Sunday,
2pm.
